SWEET BERRY FARM

fun day trip
Love to write about my travels afar,
but need to share some of the fabulous places/destinations our local communities offer.
Took a drive to Newport to visit SWEET BERRY FARM
\

Actually, it's on the Portsmouth/Middletown line and easy to find, off Rt 138.

Walked around the grounds and had a wonderful lunch.
(hard to choose as their varied selection includes pizza, soups, sandwiches, and salads, all made fresh daily from local sources.)
They provide "take-out" too if you're looking for new options when entertaining.

You can choose to sit inside their Farm Cafe/Barn
or outside at picnic tables on the lawn

or at umbrella shaded tables set up along their front terrace.

It was quite busy, being a Saturday.   Families picking blueberries and blackberries, peaches, and I think some early apples....

many also enjoyed "Susanna's"  award-winning homemade ice cream.

Then, there's a wonderful assortment of homemade cakes, pies, breads, salsas, cheeses, honey, jams, etc and of course their own fresh vegetables for purchase to take home.

Walking through, you'll also see displays of some unique creations and artwork by local artisans...great gift opportunities.

And if you're not up to doing the current "pick your own", you can purchase a full container inside their country kitchen/store.

Lots of flowers for cutting bouquets to brighten up your home or as a surprise for someone dear.

Their free summer dinner concerts (sorry, but last one for this summer was 8/26) are always well attended.  They combine these festivities with offerings of different foods to enjoy while you listen from your blanket or chair on the lawn!

Just one more place, locally, to visit and enjoy!

and nearby, you'll find Greenvale Vineyards
(to do a little wine tasting maybe...)

located at the end of this quintessential country road,

and you're still only a couple of minutes away from the island's beautiful coast.
but those are stories for another day.
