We visit Newport Vineyards in Middletown, Rhode Island two or three times each year. It's a family owned vineyard on farmland originally bought by the owners' great-grandfather in 1917.
A visit to the winery means I can stock up on my favorite white wine, their Vidal Blanc. The brochure describes it as: "Semi-dry, banana and mango flavors, fruity finish". I especially like it with seafood and it's nice with specialty cheeses. Of all their offerings, it's been my "go to" white for a few years now.
They have special celebration week-ends (usually with the change of seasons) when they invite local food artisans in. There's local cheeses, oils, sauces, artisan breads, chocolates, specialty spreads, even freshly made pastas. It's a gastronomic delight to nibble at each table and make purchases of favorites to enjoy at home
It's also an opportunity to shop for wine accessories, wine-themed gifts, and apparel with the vineyard's name and logo. They sell specialty foods, too, most produced by New Englanders.
Although they offer daily tours and wine tastings, we enjoy these special events for their festive atmosphere. Also, it's usually when they introduce their new releases, and offer discounts.

..are their tasting tables of Reds and Rose's... we were one of the first to find them. A good Pinot Noir would do nicely for my summer garden's yield of eggplant. (and with other grilled vegetables). Tastings of their dessert wines (Ports, Ice Wines) and Hard Cider are also available.

Middletown, Rhode Island is on Aquidneck Island and there's plenty else to do and see. If nothing else, at least take the time to do the 10 MILE DRIVE along the ocean in Newport just a mile away.
